Current Products

There are currently two 100-series products available. The finepitch™ GTC100 is designed for high-performance, low-cost instrument tuning applications and supports basic MIDI output. The finepitch™ FPE100 is an enhanced, and pin-compatible, version of the GTC100 supporting both tuning and high-performance real-time pitch-to-MIDI.

An evaluation board supporting the 100-series products is also available to help you evaluate the products' capabilities.

Customer-Specific Customisation:

If any of the off-the-shelf products do not quite fit your requirements, or if you want to further differentiate your end product, we are usually able to provide a customer-specific customised version of any finepitch™ product exclusively for you. Typical customisations include: changes to the operation of the user-interface; changes to the display; additional temperaments and various measurement parameters. Contact us if you require this service.

We also offer an OEM service to design solutions based on any finepitch™ product.

RoHS Compliance:

All finepitch™ products are compliant with the European Union RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive. The RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC) addresses the design phase of products and aims to restrict the use of six hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), for the protection of human health and the environment.

finepitch™ GTC100

The new finepitch™ GTC100 integrated circuit provides a single-chip digital solution for electronic or acoustic instrument tuning applications with breakthrough price/performance at a cost of approximately $6.50 per unit (10k quantity; formal quotations available on request).

Requiring only low-cost external components, the finepitch™ GTC100 facilitates production of high-quality, low-cost OEM products.

Features:
  • Pitch recognition range of C1 to C6 (Normal Mode) and C0 to C5 (Bass Mode); Middle C = C4
  • Minimum accuracy of 0·8 cents; better than 0·5 cents over most of the tuning range
  • Extremely fast response
  • Automatic note detection
  • MIDI note output via UART
  • Reference frequency A440 adjustable from 437 Hz to 443 Hz in 1 Hz steps
  • Accurate reference tone output — square wave
  • Instrument temperaments — Equal tempered, Pythagorean (string), Just Major (wind)
  • 7 LED tuning meter display via direct connection to chip — no glue logic required. Unique display allows visual tuning to better than 1·0 cent accuracy
  • 7-segment LED interface for note display
  • High noise rejection — useful when tuning acoustic instruments
  • On-board ADC reduces component count and simplifies design
  • Low current consumption makes the chip ideal for use in portable applications — typically <6 mA
  • Small footprint (9 mm x 9 mm) simplifies embedded applications — low-profile quad flat pack (LQFP32) package
  • Pin-compatible with the finepitch™ FPE100 to facilitate upgrade of existing designs
Typical applications include:
  • Hand-held instrument tuners — using either microphone or electric instrument input (guitar/bass/string/wind etc.,)
  • Built-in tuners — can be provided as standard on-board equipment e.g., integrated within instrument amplifiers
  • Low-light applications — display is entirely LED-based, allowing operation in darkness e.g., on-stage
  • Hands-off applications — notes are auto-detected so no user-interaction is required throughout the tuning process

finepitch™ FPE100

Based on the finepitch™ GTC100, the new finepitch™ FPE100 integrated circuit provides a single-chip digital solution for electronic or acoustic instrument tuning applications with real-time pitch-to-MIDI capability.

With breakthrough price/performance at a cost of $8 per unit (10k quantity; formal quotations available on request) and requiring only low-cost external components, the finepitch™ FPE100 facilitates production of high-quality, low-cost OEM products.

Features:
  • Tuning range C1 to C6; Middle C = C4
  • Real-time midi range C2 to E6
  • Pitch-to-MIDI conversion time of 35 ms
  • Velocity-sensitive MIDI note output
  • Accurate MIDI pitch bend scaled for ± 2 semitones
  • Minimum tuning accuracy of 0·8 cents; better than 0·5 cents over most of the tuning range
  • Sub-cent visual tuning capability
  • Extremely fast tuning response
  • Automatic note detection
  • Reference frequency A440 adjustable from 437 Hz to 443 Hz in 1 Hz steps
  • Accurate reference tone output — square wave
  • Instrument temperaments — Equal tempered, Pythagorean (string), Just Major (wind)
  • High noise rejection — useful when tuning acoustic instruments
  • 7-segment led interface for note display
  • 7 led tuning meter display via direct connection to chip — no glue logic required. Unique display allows visual tuning to better than 1·0  cent accuracy
  • Clip indication via “note sharp” led
  • MIDI output enable line simplifies integration of multiple FPE100 in polyphonic applications. This can also be used as a “MIDI latch” function
  • On-board adc reduces component count and simplifies design
  • Low current consumption makes the chip ideal for use in portable applications — typically <6 mA @3·3 V operation
  • expression mode consumes < 8 mA for ultra-long battery life (including external leds)
  • Small footprint (9 mm x 9 mm) simplifies embedded applications — low-profile quad flat pack (LQFP32) package
  • Pin-compatible with the finepitch™ GTC100 to facilitate upgrade of existing designs
Typical applications include:
  • Add real-time solo MIDI capability to instrument tuners.
  • Products based on the finepitch™  EXPRESSION Soloist concept design.
  • MIDI guitar: multiple finepitch™ FPE100 devices can be connected in parallel, one per string.
